In a thrilling showdown at the Alexandra Palace, England’s Luke Littler successfully defended his PDC World Darts title by defeating Dutchman Gian van Veen in front of an electrifying crowd.

Littler, just 18 years old, overcame an early setback in the first set to dominate Van Veen with his exceptional scoring prowess. The world’s top-ranked player, Littler showcased his skill by hitting 180s and high checkouts, ultimately securing a commanding 7-1 victory and claiming the £1 million prize.

With this win, Littler becomes the first player since Gary Anderson in 2016 to achieve back-to-back titles at the prestigious event. Despite a brief interruption due to a minor injury to Van Veen, Littler maintained his focus and sealed the victory with a spectacular 147 checkout.

Reflecting on his performance, Littler expressed satisfaction with his comeback after a slow start and acknowledged the challenge posed by Van Veen throughout the match. Van Veen, who had defeated Anderson to reach the final, showed early promise but was unable to sustain his momentum against Littler’s relentless play.

As Littler celebrated his impressive victory on stage, he praised Van Veen for his strong performance in the tournament and acknowledged the need to capitalize on opportunities during the match. Despite the initial setbacks, Littler’s determination and skill ultimately led him to a well-deserved triumph in the World Darts Championship.
