John Mulaney Postpones Minneapolis Shows Following ICE Shooting

Comedian John Mulaney has made the difficult decision to postpone his upcoming shows in Minneapolis this weekend in light of the recent shooting by an ICE officer. The city has been rocked by demonstrations following the tragic death of local mother and poet, Renee Nicole Good, during a protest.

Expressing his heartfelt condolences, Mulaney took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the situation. He acknowledged the challenges and grief the city is facing, stating, “I hate to postpone shows in a town going through such awful challenges and such grief, because it feels unfair to the audience.”

Mulaney, currently on tour with his “Mr. Whatever” show, will resume performances on Jan. 15 in St. Louis before continuing to Seattle, New York, and London after the rescheduled Minneapolis dates.

Despite the disappointment for fans, Mulaney emphasized the importance of safety, stating, “I don’t feel comfortable asking thousands of people each night to leave their homes, gather at the venue, and then make their way home when the situation is so unsafe.”

Tickets for the postponed shows will be honored for the new dates on April 10th, 11th, and 12th. For inquiries or refunds, fans are advised to contact their point of purchase or Ticketmaster.

Responses to Mulaney’s decision have been mixed, with one fan commending him for making the right call, while another urged him to use his platform to support efforts to remove ICE from Minneapolis.

Amid ongoing protests in the city against ICE actions, tension escalated at a Thursday demonstration following Good’s death, with protesters reportedly met with tear gas. While some federal officials defended the shooting as lawful, Minneapolis and Minnesota officials denounced these accounts as “propaganda” and “garbage.”

The situation in Minneapolis remains tense, and Mulaney’s decision to postpone his shows reflects a commitment to prioritizing safety and respect for the community during this challenging time.
