Timothy Busfield, known for his work as an actor and director, is currently facing two counts of sexual abuse involving a minor. According to a report by Variety, an arrest warrant was issued by authorities in New Mexico on Friday, January 9 following allegations made by a child actor who claimed that Busfield touched him inappropriately.
An Albuquerque Police Department affidavit, which was reviewed by Us Weekly, supported the charges against Busfield. The alleged incidents of abuse took place on the set of the TV series “The Cleaning Lady,” which Busfield directed. The accuser, a child actor on the show, reported that the inappropriate touching occurred multiple times over a period of time.
The affidavit stated that the first incident of inappropriate touching happened when the child was 7 years old, with subsequent incidents occurring when the child was 8. The child expressed fear of Busfield and reluctance to speak out due to his position as the director of the show.
The child’s mother reported the abuse to Child Protective Services, stating that it occurred between late 2022 and the second half of 2024. The child has since been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety as a result of the alleged abuse.
During a phone conversation with police in November 2025, Busfield acknowledged the possibility of having physical contact with the children on set but claimed that any interactions were in a playful and harmless manner. However, he stated that he did not specifically recall picking up or tickling the boys.
“The Cleaning Lady,” the show on which the alleged incidents took place, starred Elodie Yung and aired for four seasons on Fox before concluding in 2025. The series followed Yung’s character, a Cambodian doctor, as she navigated a new life in the U.S. after witnessing a mob killing.
