Manhattan’s Sunset Pier 94 Studios has secured its first tenant as it prepares to open its doors later this month. Paramount Television Studios has signed a lease to film the second season of Showtime’s “Dexter: Resurrection” at the state-of-the-art facility. The series will utilize 70,000 square feet of space, including two sound stages and office space.
Drew Brown, EVP of production for Paramount TV, expressed excitement about bringing “Dexter: Resurrection” to Sunset Pier 94 Studios, highlighting the studio’s advanced facilities and sound stages. He emphasized the benefits of filming in New York City, citing access to creative talent, competitive tax credits, and a commitment to U.S. production.
Sunset Pier 94 Studios offers 232,000 square feet of stages, production support space, and offices, with a prime location on the West Side Highway overlooking the Hudson River. The studio aims to attract Hollywood projects by leveraging New York’s expanded state tax credits and providing a desirable filming destination in the heart of Manhattan.
Victor Coleman, chairman and CEO of Hudson Pacific, a partner in the studio, commended Sunset Studios for its track record of hosting top-tier productions and expressed anticipation for future collaborations with Paramount. He highlighted the project’s quality and location, noting the strong interest from potential tenants.
Hope Knight, president and CEO of Empire State Development, congratulated Sunset Pier 94 Studios on securing the second season of “Dexter: Resurrection” and emphasized the economic impact of filming in New York. She praised Governor Hochul’s initiatives to incentivize film production companies like Paramount to invest in the state and looked forward to welcoming more projects to Sunset Pier 94 Studios.
