A Brooklyn mother, Gynae Kendall, found herself in hot water after being accused of hiding the body of her deceased 1-month-old son, Adonnys, in a duffel bag inside her Flatbush apartment. The shocking incident came to light when Adonnys’ maternal grandmother requested a wellness check on the baby, prompting police to respond to the scene.
Initially, Kendall misled the authorities by claiming that the infant was with his father and had not been at the residence for two weeks. However, her inconsistent statements and the father’s denial led the police to search the apartment further, where they discovered the heartbreaking truth. The baby’s lifeless body was found in a closet, concealed in the duffel bag, emitting a strong odor of decomposition.
Upon examination, it was evident that Adonnys was not breathing, his eyes were sunken, his skin was sloughing, and the decomposition process had begun. Emergency Medical Services pronounced the baby dead at the scene, and Kendall was subsequently charged with concealment of a human corpse.
During her court appearance on Monday night, Kendall was granted supervised release and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. The District Attorney’s office revealed that additional charges may be pending pending the results of an autopsy to be conducted by the city medical examiner’s office. Kendall is scheduled to appear in court again on May 26 for further proceedings.
