The Vice President JD Vance faced criticism in a scathing opinion piece recently published by the National Catholic Reporter. The piece, authored by the Catholic newspaper’s digital editor John Grosso, condemned Vance’s response to the recent tragic events involving the killings of ICU nurse Alex Pretti and mother Renee Good by federal agents in Minneapolis.
Grosso criticized Vance for choosing “MAGA over Jesus” and for failing to promote peace, unity, and empathy in the face of such tragedies. He accused Vance of prioritizing divisive political messaging over the teachings of the Gospel, labeling his actions as a “moral stain on our collective witness of Catholicism.” Grosso emphasized that Vance’s behavior is not in line with true Catholic values and urged people of faith to reject his actions.
This is not the first time Grosso has spoken out against Vance’s controversial statements. In a previous commentary, he condemned Vance’s justifications for the shootings and questioned the sincerity of his Catholic beliefs, suggesting they are merely a facade for personal gain and political ambition.
