Repeat Offender Arrested for Human Trafficking in Louisiana

Once again, Rutledge Deas IV finds himself in hot water as he faces human trafficking charges in Louisiana. The 35-year-old man has a history of using deceitful tactics to lure unsuspecting victims into his twisted schemes.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Deas was arrested after using an online nanny service to request assistance for someone with special needs. However, the real intention was far more sinister. When the victim arrived at his Lafayette home, Deas pretended to be disabled and convinced the worker to perform tasks typically associated with infant care, including changing his diaper.

This is not the first time Deas has been caught using such despicable tactics. In 2019 and 2021, he was arrested for similar offenses. In 2020, he pleaded guilty to charges of sexual battery and human trafficking after posing as a caregiver for his supposedly disabled brother. By pretending to be his brother, Deas tricked home care aides into changing his adult diaper.

After serving time for his previous offenses, Deas was released on probation. However, he was back at it again in 2021, this time posing as a younger man with special needs undergoing “alternative therapy.” He offered to pay a babysitter to change his diapers and even tried to recruit others into his twisted scheme.

Following his guilty plea to human trafficking in 2021, Deas was sentenced to 10 years in prison with nine years suspended. Upon his release, he was placed on five years of probation.

Now, Deas finds himself behind bars once again at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Authorities urge anyone with information about Deas or his crimes to contact the Louisiana Special Victims Unit at 504-310-7012.
