Macaulay Culkin was seen in public for the first time after the devastating news of the passing of his “Home Alone” co-star, Catherine O’Hara, who passed away on Friday.
The 45-year-old actor, known for his role as a child star, appeared somber as he left a meeting at the UTA Talent Agency in Beverly Hills, California, shortly after learning about O’Hara’s passing.
Culkin paid tribute to his on-screen mother on Instagram earlier that day, expressing his love and sadness over her death. The post included photos of O’Hara and himself from their time together in the iconic Christmas movie, as well as at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2024.
“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you,” he wrote. “But I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later,” Culkin added.
O’Hara passed away “following a brief illness,” as confirmed by her agency, CAA.
The Emmy-award winning actress from “Schitt’s Creek” was 71 years old at the time of her death.
The exact cause of her passing has not been disclosed.
“‘Home Alone’ was, is, and always will be a global sensation,” O’Hara remarked at Culkin’s Hollywood Walk of Fame event.
“He had a most excellent script and a wonderful director. But it is Macaulay’s perfect performance as Kevin McCallister that gave us that little every boy on an extraordinary adventure,” she continued. “I know you worked really hard. I know you did.
“But you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do.”
O’Hara marveled at Culkin’s ability to navigate superstardom at a young age and praised his “sweet yet twisted, yet totally relatable sense of humor.”
