The horrifying incident that unfolded outside a preschool in Freehold, New Jersey, was captured on shocking surveillance footage. A mother, identified as Patrice Pisani, had just stepped out of Bloom Academy with her two young sons when a woman driving a gray SUV crashed into them. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on a Friday afternoon, as seen in the video obtained by News12 NJ.
In the footage, Pisani can be seen frantically trying to pull one of her sons out of harm’s way just seconds before the car collided with a pillar. The impact caused Pisani’s youngest son to fall to the ground, with the vehicle’s tire bouncing off his leg. The car then continued moving, striking Pisani and her other son, pinning them against a railing before coming to a stop.
Fortunately, two other women rushed out from inside the school to assist the injured family members. Pisani’s younger son sustained a leg injury and burns from the underside of the vehicle, while Pisani herself suffered back and neck injuries. Her older son also suffered minor injuries. All three were taken to a local hospital for treatment and were later released.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 68-year-old Angela Arrigo from Manalapan, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to Freehold Police, Arrigo was reportedly at the preschool to pick up another child.
In response to the incident, school officials expressed deep sadness and reiterated their commitment to the safety and well-being of their students, families, and staff. The school is working to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future.
This harrowing event serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and the importance of prioritizing safety on the roads, especially in areas frequented by children. It is a testament to the swift action and bravery of those who came to the aid of the injured family, highlighting the importance of community support in times of crisis.
