Investigation Opened into Alleged Misconduct by Prince Andrew
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright announced that a thorough assessment has led to the opening of an investigation into an allegation of misconduct in public office.
He emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity and objectivity of the investigation as they collaborate with partners to look into the alleged offense.
Wright stated, “We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”
Prince Andrew’s arrest follows comments made by King Charles expressing profound concern over allegations regarding his brother’s conduct.
Buckingham Palace has expressed readiness to assist the police in their examination of the allegations against Andrew.
A Palace spokesperson mentioned, “The King has expressed profound concern at allegations concerning Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct and stated readiness to support Thames Valley Police if approached.”
The spokesperson added, “Their Majesties’ thoughts and sympathies are with the victims of abuse.”
Police are investigating a complaint from Republic, an anti-monarchy group, regarding Andrew’s suspected misconduct in public office and breach of official secrets. This follows revelations that he had shared sensitive information with his associate Jeffrey Epstein.
