Conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly recently shared her thoughts on President Trump’s response to the Nancy Guthrie case. Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since February 1 from her Arizona home. The case is currently being investigated by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI as a suspected kidnapping.

During an interaction with journalists on Air Force One, President Trump expressed his sympathy for Nancy Guthrie and commented, “We have to start reporting on other subjects also and see what happens. It’s a very sad situation.” Megyn Kelly, along with Maureen Callahan, discussed Trump’s statement on her podcast episode.

On February 17, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department revealed that they were working to locate Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker. Trump criticized the decision to publicly disclose this information, stating, “I didn’t like when they were talking about they’re going after the pacemaker. Before they even started going after it, they’re coming and reporting it.”

Maureen Callahan condemned Sheriff Nanos for his handling of the case and suggested that the FBI should take over and manage the investigation to control the messaging. She criticized Nanos for appearing in numerous interviews and revealing developments in the case.

Addressing Trump’s concern about the pacemaker tracking update, Maureen Callahan agreed that sharing such details with the media could have jeopardized the investigation by alerting the potential kidnapper. She questioned the wisdom of disclosing sensitive information and speculated on the possibility of tracking a pacemaker even after a person’s death.

Megyn Kelly supported Trump’s argument and questioned the Pima County Sheriff’s Department for discussing Nancy Guthrie’s pacemaker in public. She emphasized the importance of maintaining secrecy in sensitive investigations to prevent compromising crucial details.

In a later segment of the podcast, Megyn Kelly noted that media coverage of the case was diminishing, which could be due to a lack of leads or a decision by the police to withhold information. She highlighted the importance of media attention in keeping pressure on law enforcement agencies to continue their efforts in solving the case.

Kelly also criticized an Arizona congresswoman for opposing influencers’ coverage of the Nancy Guthrie case. She emphasized the significance of public awareness and support in aiding the investigation and bringing attention to missing persons cases.

In conclusion, Megyn Kelly and Maureen Callahan’s discussion on President Trump’s response to the Nancy Guthrie case shed light on the challenges and complexities of handling high-profile missing persons cases. Their insights underscored the importance of careful communication and strategic decision-making in sensitive investigations.
