Michiel Huisman, known for his roles in popular shows like “Game of Thrones” and “The Flight Attendant,” has been announced as part of the cast for NBC’s new drama pilot, “What the Dead Know.” In this upcoming project from Dick Wolf, Huisman will take on the role of William Grant, an experienced NYPD homicide detective who believes in a straightforward approach to justice.

The series is based on the memoir of former New York City medical examiner Barbara Butcher, and follows death investigator Ava Ledger, played by Taylor Schilling. Ava excels in handling dead bodies but struggles with the living. Teaming up with the NYPD, she tackles their most challenging cases in “What the Dead Know.”

Huisman’s recent work includes projects like “The Abandons,” “Mayfair Witches,” and “Echo 3,” as well as the upcoming “Rebel Moon” films. He is also known for his roles in “The Flight Attendant” and “Game of Thrones,” where he portrayed Daario Naharis. With a diverse range of credits to his name, Huisman brings a wealth of experience to his role in this new series.

“What the Dead Know” is being written and executive produced by Beth Rinehart, with Dick Wolf serving as an executive producer alongside Tom Thayer, Peter Jankowski, and Anastasia Puglisi. Fred Berner is set to direct the pilot, with Kevin Plunkett, Rebecca McGill, and Barbara Butcher as co-executive producers. The series will be produced by Universal Television, where Wolf has an overall deal.

Huisman is represented by UTA, Conway van Gelder Grant (UK), Authentic Talent, and Peikoff Mahan. His involvement in “What the Dead Know” adds to the anticipation surrounding this new project, which promises to deliver compelling storytelling and a talented cast.
