Cal and Maggie from Sullivan’s Crossing encountered numerous challenges before their prospective engagement.

In Season 4, Maggie, portrayed by Morgan Kohan, and Cal, played by Chad Michael Murray, faced several hurdles upon the reappearance of Maggie’s ex-husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner). Despite a temporary split, the couple reached a positive turning point, culminating in a proposal.

However, complications arose when a social worker introduced Tracy, a member of Lola’s (Amalia Williamson) youth group, revealing her foster parents could no longer care for her. Consequently, Cal and Maggie found themselves contemplating becoming Tracy’s temporary guardians.

Sullivan’s Crossing, inspired by the book series from Robyn Carr, centers on neurosurgeon Maggie as she returns to her rural Nova Scotia hometown. There, she reconnects with her estranged father, Sully (Scott Patterson), meets the new arrival Cal, and engages with other community members.

The series Sullivan’s Crossing has been confirmed for a fifth season, although not all cast members will return. Based on Robyn Carr’s book series, the show follows neurosurgeon Maggie (Morgan Kohan) as she returns to rural Nova Scotia to reconnect with her estranged father, Sully (Scott Patterson). Her brief visit evolves into something more substantial.

The show was previously confirmed for a fifth season, anticipated to debut in 2027 on CTV. Following its Canadian broadcast, the series will air on The CW and is expected to be available on Netflix during the summer after concluding on cable.

Before the fourth season premiered, Us Weekly revealed in March 2026 that Patterson would not resume his role as Harry “Sully” Sullivan.

According to Roth, “Season 3 of Sullivan’s Crossing concluded with Sully’s departure to Ireland, marking a new chapter in his life. Season 4 picks up the following day, with Sully still abroad. Although he doesn’t appear in this season, his character remains integral to the narrative and could return in future seasons if aligned with the creative direction.”

Patterson later suggested creative disagreements led to his unexpected exit, posting on Instagram, “The creative differences were becoming untenable, and I realized the show was not something I could continue with.”

He further clarified that departing Sullivan’s Crossing was not his initial intention.

As Sullivan’s Crossing approaches its fifth season, multiple cast departures are occurring. Season 4 depicted Maggie (Morgan Kohan) and Cal (Chad Michael Murray) overcoming numerous challenges, including the return of her ex-husband, Liam (Marcus Rosner). Despite a brief separation, Maggie and Cal reconciled.

Patterson expressed his frustration that it was being suggested the show chose to move on from him/Sully when the opposite was true. He wanted fans to know the truth, as he has always respected those who support the industry by watching and engaging with the characters.

Amalia Williamson, appearing alongside Brooke Shields in Acorn TV’s You’re Killing Me, is uncertain about her role in the series’ future.

“I don’t know,” she mentioned to Us, highlighting that her participation depends on her filming schedule for You’re Killing Me, which was recently renewed.

“It depends on when we film our second season,” she explained. “I would love to return. I cherish my Sullivan’s Crossing family and miss them.”

Sullivan’s Crossing is available for streaming on Netflix.
