Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Easton Cowan made headlines with his first NHL fight during the team’s 6-4 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at Scotiabank Arena. The fight occurred in the third period following a hard hit on Leafs forward Nick Robertson by Ducks defenseman Jackson LaCombe. Cowan wasted no time in defending his teammate by dropping the gloves with LaCombe.

The rookie was penalized with a two-minute instigating penalty, a five-minute major for fighting, and a 10-minute misconduct penalty. LaCombe, on the other hand, received a five-minute major for fighting.

In a much-needed win, the Toronto Maple Leafs ended an eight-game losing streak by defeating the Anaheim Ducks. Matias Maccelli opened the scoring for the Leafs, but the Ducks quickly responded with goals from Cutter Gauthier and Ian Moore. Pavel Mintyukov extended the Ducks’ lead to 3-1 in the second period before the Leafs rallied back with power-play goals from Auston Matthews and John Tavares, tying the game at 3-3.

The third period saw William Nylander, Bo Grouix, and Matthew Knies scoring for the Leafs, securing a 6-3 lead. Despite a late goal from Alex Killorn, the Leafs held on for a 6-4 victory.

The game was marked by a display of resilience and composure from the Leafs, as highlighted by Knies who praised the team’s ability to stay composed and fight back against tough opponents.

This victory was a much-needed morale boost for the Toronto Maple Leafs after a challenging losing streak. The team showed determination and grit in securing the win, with standout performances from key players like Matthews, Tavares, and Nylander.
