Just when it seems that the media’s allegiance to Donald Trump has hit rock bottom, Jake Tapper emerges to remind us that the corporate media will always find a way to pin the blame on Democrats, no matter how egregious the Republican missteps.

In a flurry of activity, Senate Democrats made five attempts within 24 hours to secure funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—excluding ICE and border patrol from the equation.
While Senate Democrats are open to discussing funding for the rest of DHS, they insist on reforms to ICE and border patrol before any financial support is granted.
On CNN’s State Of The Union, Jake Tapper sought to portray this prudent stance as unreasonable, questioning Senator Cory Booker:
“In terms of our home security, we’ve seen a series of attacks—the ISIS-inspired bombing attempt near Mamdani’s residence, and gunfire directed at an ROTC class at Old Dominion, to name a few.”
As it stands, the Department of Homeland Security remains shuttered due to Senate Democrats’ refusal to endorse the funding bill tied to the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Tapper pointedly asked, given the security threats you’ve just highlighted, and considering Secretary Noem’s dismissal, whether it isn’t time for Democrats to reconsider their position on reopening and funding DHS.
In essence, Tapper seemed to imply that Democrats should capitulate and fund ICE and border patrol because Kristi Noem is no longer in charge, and Trump has instigated a conflict of choice. A puzzling line of reasoning, to say the least.
Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) was not inclined to entertain such arguments.
