The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Mikayla Matthews finds comfort away from the ongoing drama among the cast.
“After everything going on the last couple weeks, this was a very much-needed escape 🙏🏼,” Mikayla, 26, shared on Instagram on Saturday, March 21, as she posted videos of her family’s beach trip in California. “Think I’ll stay here forever.”
Mikayla, who mainly lives in Utah, has four children with her estranged husband Jace Terry. The couple announced their separation during Mormon Wives season 4, which debuted on Hulu earlier this month, citing struggles with their intimacy issues.
Her vacation coincides with the suspension of production on Mormon Wives season 5, following Taylor Frankie Paul‘s ongoing allegations of domestic violence.
“It was a decision that all of us girls came up with and agreed on,” Mikayla, a mother of four, mentioned on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, March 18, in reference to the production halt. “We didn’t feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening.”
Us Weekly reported earlier this month that police were called to Taylor’s residence in late February after an alleged incident with her ex Dakota Mortensen.
In 2023, Taylor, 31, was arrested following a physical altercation with Dakota, 33. She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was placed on probation. A video from the incident, leaked on Thursday, March 19, shows Taylor throwing chairs at Dakota in front of her daughter. (Taylor shares Indy, 8, and Ocean, 5, with ex-husband Tate Paul, and Ever, 2, with Dakota.)
Following the video’s release, ABC canceled Taylor’s season of The Bachelorette, which was set to premiere on Sunday, March 22.
A spokesperson for Taylor told Us in a statement, “Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of enduring extensive mental and physical abuse, along with threats of retaliation, Taylor is gaining the strength to confront her accuser and taking steps to protect herself and her children from further harm.”
Dakota, who denies any allegations of wrongdoing, was later granted a temporary protective order against Taylor. This order barred any communication between them and granted him sole custody of Ever until a court hearing in April.

Disney, the owner of both ABC and Hulu, has not disclosed what lies ahead for The Bachelorette and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. However, Taylor’s Mormon Wives co-stars are open to continuing the show without their fellow MomTok creator.
“The girls know they can move forward without Taylor and are eager to continue,” a source exclusively revealed to Us. “This situation has brought them closer, and they have been supporting each other. They want to make it work and complete season 5 on a positive note.”
