Global Constellation, a company specializing in international sales and financing, has taken on the global sales of the five-episode limited series “Heaven’s Gate.” The series is being introduced to international buyers for the first time at Series Mania.
“Heaven’s Gate” is set across two timelines, 1942 and the mid-1990s, and follows the story of Saskia, who travels to Indonesia with her teenage daughter, Alex, after inheriting an abandoned plantation named Heaven’s Gate. This practical move quickly turns into a gripping exploration of her family’s colonial past. Saskia experiences the life of Anisa, a Javanese woman in 1942, who is involved in a love triangle with the plantation owner, Jan Stokman, and his wife, Marie.
As Saskia becomes deeply affected by these visions, Alex grows concerned about her mother’s mental health and tries to keep her anchored. Saskia, determined to uncover the plantation’s mysteries, risks becoming entirely consumed by its haunting past.
This series marks the first official television co-production between the Netherlands and Malaysia and is directed by Jim Taihuttu and Lisette Donkersloot. The writing team includes Jim Taihuttu, Randy Oost, Amira Duynhouwer, and Victor D. Ponten.
The cast features Denise Aznam, Anneke Sluiters, Gijs Naber, Bront Palarae, and Abimana Aryasatya.
