Donald Trump has avoided interviews with neutral journalists who might challenge him for years. Instead, he opts for quick cell phone interviews or appearances on conservative outlets like Fox News and Newsmax.
Fox News interviews with Trump are often carefully crafted, typically recorded in advance and edited before airing.
It takes a notable level of ineptitude to mishandle a basic question on a network known for its supportive stance and managed environment.
The driving force behind Democrats’ success in special elections and their increasing lead in the midterm generic ballot is the economy. Inflation and rising prices are fueling voter frustration aimed at the current administration.
While the White House and its party aimed for Trump to address affordability issues, he instead became embroiled in a conflict with Iran in the Middle East, neglecting affordability messages to Americans.
On Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures, Trump participated in an interview where Maria Bartiromo, a loyal supporter, posed an easy question.
Bartiromo asked Trump, “So do you believe the price of oil and gas will be lower before the midterm elections?”
Although it seemed like a straightforward question, Trump’s response inadvertently benefited Democrats.
