Surveillance footage reveals a dramatic incident where a woman fired a gun at a West Virginia gas station, just missing an employee.

The video shows Rebecca Peterson, 42, of Oceana, allegedly approaching the convenience store counter at a pit stop around 4 a.m. on Friday. She reportedly informed the clerk of her intention to rob the store before discharging the firearm at the wall behind him.

“Oh, my God!” shouted Shell station clerk Alaa Hammad, who was filling in for a friend at the Lincoln County rest stop. This was reported by WCHS alongside video evidence obtained by the outlet.

According to the video and authorities, Hammad had informed Peterson, who was wearing a black hoodie, that the store owner was in a back room counting money. As Hammad ran, Peterson fired at the surveillance camera located in the back of the store.

“I tried to let her be calm and saw her mentality is not awake,” Hammad later recounted to the local outlet.

Peterson fled the scene in her vehicle but was apprehended by police shortly thereafter.

She faces charges of attempted armed robbery, wanton endangerment, brandishing, assault, and destruction of property, as reported by the West Virginia State Police.
