“Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” is set to introduce a new face in its fourth season while bidding farewell to a longtime actor.
Variety reports that Luke Kirby will be joining the Citytv series, whereas Aden Young, an original cast member, will be exiting the show. Young, who has portrayed Detective Sergeant Henry Graff since the series’ inception, is leaving on amicable terms, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Kirby will step into the role of Detective Sergeant John Darcy, a character described as being “called up from Guns & Gangs to partner with Detective Sergeant Frankie Bateman (Kathleen Munroe) in Homicide.”
“From the moment we began imagining this next chapter, Luke stood out as the ideal choice. He brings a sharp intelligence and emotional depth that perfectly aligns with the kind of storytelling ‘Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent’ is known for,” said Tassie Cameron, executive producer on behalf of Cameron Pictures. “His work is grounded, unpredictable, and deeply character-driven, which makes Detective Darcy an immediate and fascinating presence on our team. We’re incredibly excited to welcome him to the series.”
Alongside Monroe and Kirby, Season 4 will feature Karen Robinson, K.C. Collins, Nicola Correia-Damude, and Araya Mengesha. The season is currently in production and is slated to premiere this fall on Citytv.
The series is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. in collaboration with Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Citytv, a subsidiary of Rogers Sports & Media.
Kirby, who has received three Emmy nominations and won once for his portrayal of Lenny Bruce in Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” has also appeared in the Apple TV series “The Last Thing He Told Me,” Amazon’s “Étoile,” “Dr. Death” on Peacock, and HBO’s “The Deuce.”
