Spencer Pratt, known for his reality TV career, is now pursuing a political role as he responds to criticism from Hannah Einbinder, star of Hacks, regarding his growing mayoral campaign.
Pratt, 42, addressed Einbinder’s comments on Friday, May 29, through X, stating, “She speaks from a red carpet, with armed security, shielded from the daily struggles faced by Angelenos and their children.” He added, “While she may not feel the effects of Karen [Bass] and Nithya’s [Raman] shortcomings, the rest of us, who are not part of her elite circle, desire change.”
Earlier that day, Einbinder, 31, criticized Pratt’s mayoral bid at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television in Los Angeles.
Speaking with Variety‘s Marc Malkin on the red carpet, she remarked, “There is significant wealth in this city, and many who claim to be Democrats or left-leaning are primarily driven by money, leading them to support figures like Spencer Pratt, who has Donald Trump’s endorsement. It’s vital to oppose this trend.”
Einbinder also noted, “The situation is complex. No candidate is perfect. I’ve decided to support Nithya, and that’s what we’re doing, girls!”

The former star of The Hills announced his candidacy for Los Angeles mayor against the Democratic incumbent, Mayor Bass, and several other contenders, including Raman and Adam Miller, on the anniversary of the devastating L.A. wildfires that destroyed his home. Although Pratt is a registered Republican with numerous connections to conservative and MAGA media, he claims to be running as an “independent community advocate.”
During a May 28 appearance on Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Pratt stated, “I resonate with people nationally and internationally because I focus solely on the truth. I’m about basic issues, not national politics or parties. I highlight how tax money is misused, going to drug addicts for needles and tourniquets, while they’re sold drugs to die on our streets. I aim to provide mandatory medical treatment to help them recover from addictions.”
He further emphasized, “People desire an outsider who speaks only the facts. The truth.”
When Malkin of Variety mentioned to Einbinder that some people suggested she should run for office, she dismissed the idea, aligning with Lisa Rinna’s views on celebrities entering politics.
Einbinder quipped, “Neither you nor I should run for office. I’m with Lisa Rinna. I stand with Lisa Rinna.”
At the American Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday, May 25, Rinna criticized Pratt’s campaign, asserting that no reality TV star should enter politics.
“Not a reality star,” she declared, referencing President Donald Trump, another reality TV personality who transitioned to politics. “I love him [Pratt], but we’ve been down that road. We’re not doing it again. Listen, I’m a reality person. I wouldn’t want myself as mayor. Let’s face it, I love him [Pratt]. He’s amazing. But we’ve already been there.”
