The Squamish RCMP reported on May 21 that the investigation into McLean’s disappearance has now been classified as a homicide. This change follows the discovery of evidence suggesting that Mr. McLean was the victim of homicide, according to their “investigative efforts.”
The statement noted that on May 20, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took charge of the investigation. The Squamish RCMP is collaborating closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to further the investigation, it added.
In light of these developments, several of McLean’s neighbors have shared their thoughts on him and the ongoing investigation.
According to CBC, Russ Meiklejohn expressed disbelief at the notion that anyone would want to harm McLean. His wife, Dorothy, recalled how McLean would always greet her with a warm hug when they met.
“It’s incredibly difficult to accept that he’s gone,” she said. “He was an integral part of this small community network.”
Meanwhile, Lucas Talent Inc., a talent agency claiming representation of the Arrow actor, addressed the situation on Facebook, stating, “We’re concerned about our dear client Stew McLean – Please see below and share.”
