Savannah Guthrie remains hopeful as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues four months after her disappearance.
On Sunday, June 7, the Today show cohost shared an image on her Instagram Stories of a religious painting depicting Christ’s ascension. The picture included the text, “Oh my, my soul, it cries out, soul, it cries out.”
Savannah, aged 54, added a heartfelt plea, “Bring her home,” accompanied by a yellow heart emoji.
Authorities suspect that Nancy, 84, was taken from her residence near Tucson, Arizona, during the early hours of February 1. She remains missing.
“These cases are difficult,” stated Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos on June 1 in an update regarding the investigation.
Speaking to Tucson’s KOLD News 13, Nanos noted, “Not just this case. Many of our cases require extensive collaboration. It’s not only about a detective talking to someone and making an arrest.”
The sheriff added that the reliance on lab work prolongs investigations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the integrity of both the case and DNA evidence in law enforcement.
As the pursuit of Nancy extends into its fourth month, Savannah has made numerous public pleas for her mother’s safe return.
In a heartfelt Mother’s Day message on Instagram in May, she wrote, “Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie, we miss you with every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you.”
She continued, “We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous and the reward remains available. Please keep praying. Bring her home.”
In a March interview on the Today show, Savannah recounted how she initially learned about her mother’s suspected kidnapping.
“[My sister, Annie, called], she said, ‘She’s gone,’” Savannah recalled. “She was in a panic. I was in a panic. I’m like, ‘Call 911.’ She’s like. ‘I did. We called them. They’re here.’ … It was just chaos and disbelief. From the very early moments, Annie and [her husband] were telling authorities, ‘This isn’t a typical case of someone wandering off. She can’t wander off.’”
Savannah took a short break from the Today show beginning in February and resumed her cohosting duties on April 6. She also stepped away from NBC’s coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
