Controversy erupted over Trump’s decision to attend a game at Madison Square Garden well before his arrival.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter criticized the president’s choice, arguing it would cause unnecessary disruptions for fans and law enforcement.
“Of all the selfish, narcissistic things Trump has done, attending MSG to see the Knicks play in person Monday night is the absolute worst,” Coulter posted on X.
She claimed that thousands of attendees would face inconvenience due to heightened security, increased traffic, and a larger police presence, concluding with: “Presidents ought to be willing to sacrifice once in awhile.”
ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith also expressed his preference for the president to avoid the Finals, emphasizing that his concerns were not political.
“He’s coming to Game 3 of the Finals, and I don’t want him there,” Smith remarked. “It has nothing to do with politics, policy, or anything like that.”
“It has everything to do with him disrupting and contributing at the same time to the chaos that’s going to be existing at Madison Square Garden,” he elaborated.
