During Men’s Health Week, I affirm my dedication to providing our nation’s men with the tools needed to stay healthy, resilient, and effective in their roles as family caregivers, community builders, and contributors to a brighter, more prosperous America.
Men face significant health challenges that require urgent attention. Heart disease leads as the primary cause of death in the U.S., affecting men more severely than women. Prostate cancer, the most prevalent cancer among men, impacts 1 in 8 during their lifetime. The mental health crisis is equally concerning, with over 6 million men experiencing depression annually and a suicide rate four times higher than that of women. Substance abuse is another critical issue, with 16 million men living with a substance use disorder, and overdose deaths occurring at more than double the rate of women. These and other health issues affect millions of fathers, sons, husbands, and brothers nationwide.
From the outset, my administration has been committed to Making America Healthy Again. Through the efforts of the Make America Healthy Again Commission, we are equipping men with the necessary resources to manage their health effectively. Updated dietary guidelines are encouraging men to opt for whole foods and healthy fats while reducing ultra-processed foods. Multiple agencies are collaborating to promote regular physical activity, particularly in the Great Outdoors. We are also advancing precision prostate screening trials for veterans and emphasizing the importance of preventative care for all American men. In April, I signed an Executive Order to expedite access to groundbreaking treatments for those with serious mental health issues, fostering research and expanding access to promising drug therapies. Earlier, in January, I signed a significant Executive Order for the Great American Recovery Initiative, a $100 million investment aimed at combating substance abuse and enhancing treatment options, significantly benefiting men and their families.
Our administration is more determined than ever to empower men in taking charge of their health and to herald a Golden Age of Health. With the Great Healthcare Plan, we are making life-saving medications more affordable, decreasing insurance premiums, and holding large insurance firms accountable. TrumpRx is introducing significant price transparency to the American healthcare system, enabling Americans to compare and access formerly costly brand medications at the most competitive prices globally.
Under my leadership, the health of our nation’s men will become stronger, more robust, and more vital than ever before.
