Following an episode of conceding to Iran, Donald Trump appears to be seeking any opportunity to boost his morale. Characterized by a pattern of repeated failures and a constant need for validation, Trump has resorted to familiar tactics. This time, however, he has encountered unexpected resistance.
In an effort to project an image of strength and desirability, Trump claimed that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni pleaded for a photograph with him during the G7 summit.

Speaking to Italian media, Trump made statements that many politically informed Americans would recognize.
He asserted that Meloni was eager to have a photo taken with him, a claim that Politico reports appears to contradict Meloni’s own statements about their relationship.
During a phone call with Italian media on Thursday night, Trump said Meloni was âprobably happy I spoke to her. I didnât have to,â adding that âshe wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldnât have taken it, but I felt sorry for her.â These comments seem to contradict the prime ministerâs recent claims that her relationship with the president was as good as ever.
Living in a world of his own making, Trump may genuinely believe these assertions, but Meloni appears to be challenging his narrative.
