Prepare to revisit Barry’s Bay: “Every Year After” has secured a second season renewal on Amazon’s Prime Video, just weeks after its initial release.
The series, inspired by Carley Fortune’s popular novel “Every Summer After,” initially explores the evolving relationships of Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) and Sam Florek (Matt Cornett) as they transition from friends to lovers and then face a second chance at romance.
After a decade apart due to a mysterious event for which Percy holds herself responsible, she returns to the lakeside town of Barry’s Bay. This reunion occurs after the death of Sam and his brother Charlie’s mother, Sue (Elisha Cuthbert), in the town where Sam and Charlie (played by Michael Bradway) grew up and where Percy spent her childhood summers.
For Season 2, Amazon reveals that “Every Year After” will pivot its narrative to focus on Charlie, drawing from Fortune’s follow-up book, “One Golden Summer,” while continuing to delve into beloved storylines and characters from the first season.
Amy B. Harris is set to return as showrunner for the second season, alongside executive producers Carley Fortune, Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens, and Grace Gilroy.
The cast for Season 2 of “Every Year After” will feature Bradway, Soverall, Cornett, Aurora Perrineau (“KAOS,” “Westworld”), Abigail Cowen (“Fate: The Winx Saga”), and Joseph Chiu (“Fear Street: Prom Queen, Motorheads”).
“The reaction to ‘Every Year After’ has been remarkable, highlighting the broad appeal of Carley Fortune’s narratives and the strong connection audiences have established with Barry’s Bay,” stated Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios. “We are profoundly thankful to Carley, Amy B. Harris, our outstanding cast and creative team, and the dedicated fans who have warmly received this series worldwide. We eagerly anticipate returning to Barry’s Bay to deliver another deeply emotional and memorable chapter.”
