An elderly Massachusetts woman tragically killed by her own pit bull
An elderly Massachusetts woman was mauled to death by her own pit bull, and her husband was injured while trying to save her on Monday evening in Roxbury, as reported by friends and police.
Jeriline Brady-McGinnis, 73, was gruesomely killed by her dog inside their home in Roxbury around 4:30 p.m., police said. Her husband and two Boston police officers were also reportedly injured while trying to handle the aggressive dog.
All four individuals were rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, Brady-McGinnis succumbed to her injuries during surgery. Her friend, Jean McGuire, shared that she was attacked and had her arm ripped by the dog.
Authorities revealed that the dog was shot and later euthanized by Boston Animal Control. The two police officers and Brady-McGinnis’ husband sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbors expressed fear of the four dogs owned by Brady-McGinnis, mentioning that the couple had too many pets in their home. The police department’s homicide unit is investigating the incident due to the severity of the injuries.
Remembered by her family as someone with a “heart of gold,” Brady-McGinnis was described as a loving and caring mother who always put her children first. Three other dogs were removed from the home following the tragic incident.
