YouTuber iShowSpeed has overlooked Lionel Messi’s Argentina in his prediction for the FIFA World Cup final, choosing instead a matchup between France and England for the ultimate prize this summer.
During his stream of the FIFA World Cup game between France and Morocco, iShowSpeed expressed his belief that France would progress from their side of the knockout bracket. France defeated Morocco to secure their spot in the semifinals.
Thanks for the submission!
France is set to play against the winner of the Spain vs Belgium match, scheduled for July 10. iShowSpeed is confident that neither of these teams will be able to overcome the reigning 2018 champions.
Additionally, he predicts England will defeat Norway in the quarterfinals and advance past the winner of the Argentina vs Switzerland match. He stated:
“I think the World Cup final would be…France vs England!” (via iShowSpeedHQ)
This prediction comes after his earlier support for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal to win the championship this summer. During a stream in June, he mentioned:
“It’s that time. The World Cup is here. It’s that time. I truly believe that Cristiano Ronaldo is going to win the 2026 World Cup. Y’all heard it from me, IShowSpeed. Ronaldo is winning the 2026 World Cup. He just won the Nations League. That’s just an appetizer; the World Cup is the real meal, and they’ve got it. Portugal’s squad is looking good.”
Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal have already been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup, while Lionel Messi’s Argentina remains in the quarterfinals.
Lionel Messi does not rule out playing in 2030 FIFA World Cup
After Argentina’s victory over Austria, Lionel Messi addressed the media, expressing that he is not dismissing the possibility of playing in the 2030 FIFA World Cup. He stated that he has no intentions of retiring yet and is focusing on taking things one step at a time.
“I don’t know. The truth is, I’m not thinking about that right now. It seems a bit far off but, as I said, I’m living one day at a time and focused on the present. Yes, yes… I will continue for some time, as long as I can contribute, feel good physically, and help my teammates… I will keep playing.” (via GOAL)
Although Messi had previously hinted at retirement following Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup victory, he has continued to represent the national team. However, he has announced that he will not participate in any more competitive matches within Argentina.
