In Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, a devastating fire at a local pub has resulted in the deaths of at least 27 people, a representative from a rescue service reported on Monday. This tragic event is among the most severe incidents of its kind in the popular tourist destination in recent years.
“There are more than 27 dead,” stated Anwut Pho-ampai from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, which provides voluntary emergency rescue services.
According to AP, Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
While precise details are still being gathered, local media suggest that the fire may have originated at the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district.
