On Wednesday, Joe Biden announced the upcoming release of his book, which explores his presidency, the decision to seek reelection, and his eventual decision to step down. The book is scheduled for publication shortly after this year’s midterm elections.
Titled “Promise Me, America,” the book is set to hit the shelves on November 17, as Biden revealed in a trailer on X.
Last month, Jill Biden published her memoir, where she discussed Biden’s troubled 2024 debate performance that led to his withdrawal from the race. Her book has drawn criticism from Democrats who feel it revisits a painful election and detracts from future party goals.
During the 2024 reelection campaign, Biden exited the race in July amid growing concerns from within his party and others about his mental fitness and leadership capabilities. He subsequently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who was eventually defeated by Donald Trump.
Similarly, the memoir released by Harris in September faced criticism from Democrats for criticizing party members and revisiting the 2024 election’s wounds.
Biden’s forthcoming memoir will also delve into his management of Covid-19, the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, efforts to strengthen NATO, and support for Ukraine, as stated in the announcement.
Previously, Biden authored “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose,” which focused on his son Beau’s battle with cancer, and “Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics,” detailing his political journey before serving as vice president under Barack Obama.
In the video announcement, Biden also shared that his prostate cancer treatment is progressing well, a diagnosis he made public in May of the previous year.
