This week’s lineup of new shows promises plenty of excitement, both in sports arenas and beyond.
Leading the Watch With Us’ binge list is Prime Video’s Ride or Die, which imagines what might happen if Thelma & Louise were fierce action heroes.
Apple TV continues its successful streak with Lucky, a crime thriller featuring the talented Anya Taylor-Joy in the lead role.
Sports enthusiasts have much to look forward to this weekend, including the premiere of Will Ferrell’s new Netflix comedy The Hawk, the return of the football docuseries Quarterback, and the World Cup final showdown between Spain and Argentina.
‘Ride or Die’ Season 1 – Prime Video
Former lawyer turned housewife Debbie (Octavia Spencer) is thrust into a world of danger when she discovers her lifelong friend Judith (Hannah Waddingham) is secretly an elite assassin. With Debbie’s life at risk, Judith must use her lethal skills to protect her friend.
Although Ride or Die might seem suited to a fast-paced action-comedy film, it unfolds over eight episodes, each about 50 minutes long. This extended format may not suit all viewers, but the series remains engaging due to its charismatic leads, who excel in both comedic and dramatic moments. Spencer and Waddingham shine as they navigate their complex roles, making the series a worthwhile watch.
‘Lucky’ Season 1 – Apple TV

Luciana “Lucky” Armstrong (Anya Taylor-Joy) has built a reputation for being fortunate, especially when it comes to duping people out of money. However, her luck takes a downturn during a botched multi-million dollar heist. With her husband and partner Cary (Drew Starkey) missing, and mob boss Priscilla (Annette Bening) demanding repayment, Lucky must rely on her cunning—and a bit of luck—to survive.
This summer, Apple TV has delivered hits like the Emmy-nominated Widow’s Bay and the popular thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. Lucky stands strong among these offerings, with Taylor-Joy delivering a captivating performance as a character who is part action heroine, part femme fatale. The series is available now, with new episodes released every Wednesday leading up to the finale on August 19.
‘Quarterback’ Season 3 – Netflix
Since launching in 2023, Netflix’s Quarterback series has drawn in sports fans and non-fans alike by delving into the lives of the athletes behind the helmets. The first season highlighted Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, while season two shifted focus to Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Cousins.
The third season of Quarterback features four players across seven episodes, all available on Netflix: Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, Baker Mayfield, and Jayden Daniels. Highlights include Ward’s journey as a rookie and Flacco’s unexpected team trade. By exploring the personal lives of these football stars, the series reveals that the most compelling stories often unfold off the field.
‘The Hawk’ Season 1 – Netflix

Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins (Will Ferrell) is a seasoned golf pro who has yet to win the coveted U.S. Open. As he faces the twilight of his career, he strives to claim this elusive prize despite his lackluster swing and the formidable challenge posed by his rival, Golden Fisk (Luke Wilson).
Though critics have given mixed reviews to The Hawk, Ferrell’s portrayal of a self-absorbed athlete offers entertainment value. The film features a talented ensemble, including SNL alum Molly Shannon, upcoming actor Jimmy Tatro, and comedian Fortune Feimster.
