Paramount+ has announced the official premiere date for “Avatar: Seven Havens,” and it’s one fans won’t forget.
This latest installment in the “Avatar” series will launch on the streaming platform on Oct. 9. Enthusiasts might recognize this date, as it was initially intended for the release of the movie “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender.” That film’s debut was moved to July 25 following an online leak earlier this year.
Differing from previous “Avatar” series, which typically aired episodes weekly with breaks between seasons, all 26 episodes of “Seven Havens” will be available simultaneously, allowing for a binge-watching experience.
Paramount has also unveiled the first teaser trailer for the series, which is available to view below.
According to the official description, the series follows a young Earthbender who realizes she is the new Avatar after Korra. The world is now in ruins due to a catastrophic event, and being the Avatar marks her as a threat rather than a savior. Pursued by human and spirit adversaries, she, along with her long-lost twin, must discover their hidden past and rescue the Seven Havens before the last bastions of civilization fall.
The cast includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker voicing Geet and Ruhi.
The series is the brainchild of Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators behind the franchise, who also act as executive producers through Avatar Studios. Ethan Spaulding joins them as an executive producer, with Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer. The show is produced by Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios.
“Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender” will have a special screening debut at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, preceding its streaming release the following day. Additionally, the film will have a limited one-week run in theaters in New York and Los Angeles to qualify for awards, replacing the initially planned full theatrical release.
The original “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005 and ran for three seasons. It is celebrated as one of the finest animated series ever, followed by its sequel “The Legend of Korra,” which aired in 2012 for four seasons.
