The 22nd annual Unforgettable Gala (UNFO) is set to honor the talented cast of Netflix’s live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” along with other notable API talents in entertainment and media. Produced by GoldenTV and Character Media, the UNFO is the premier Asian American awards gala that recognizes the biggest and brightest stars in the industry.
One of the highlights of this year’s gala is the recognition of Anna Sawai, known for her role in “Shogun,” and Izaac Wang, who starred in “Didi.” Sawai will be honored as Actor in TV, adding to her impressive list of accolades that includes an Emmy win for best actress in a drama series. Wang, on the other hand, will receive the Breakout in Film award for his performance in the indie Sundance award-winning hit “Didi.”
In addition to Sawai and Wang, the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” cast will be presented with the Vanguard Award at the gala. Other honorees include Hoa Xuande for his breakout role in “The Sympathizer,” Sean Wang for directing “Didi,” Rachel Kondo for her writing on “Shogun,” and digital influencer Vivian Tu for her work on “Your Rich BFF.”
GoldenTV CEO Takashi Cheng expressed excitement about this year’s honorees, emphasizing the importance of recognizing API talent in Hollywood and beyond. The awards are voted and determined by a selection committee co-chaired by Adele Lim and Eugene Lee Yang, with a panel that includes industry heavyweights like Awkwafina, Daniel Dae Kim, and Simu Liu.
The gala is scheduled to take place on Dec. 14, with a broadcast of the ceremony airing on Dec. 18 on ChimeTV and streaming on GetGolden.TV. The 2024 Unforgettable Gala honorees list includes Joan Chen, Anna Sawai, Izaac Wang, Hoa Xuande, Sean Wang, Rachel Kondo, Vivian Tu, and the cast of “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
