Shedeur Sanders is preparing for his sophomore season at the professional level. The former Colorado Buffaloes standout is engaged in a competition with three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson for the starting quarterback position.
Sanders spoke to the media after the fourth day of training camp.

Sanders also discussed his development as an NFL player.
“I would say, I pretty much figured myself out, figured out my routine, learned about myself, way more and, I’m overall happy with the process. Any rep at any point in time, is extremely important, even the guys that weren’t able to make it.”
“You know, we get, we get we talk about different things in the building and, we work, you know, after practice on things. So, every rep that we able to get with our guys, truly, truly makes a difference and truly builds that trust and connection.”
“I just take it a day at a time.”
The Cleveland Browns drafted Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. In eight games, Sanders recorded 1,400 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He participated in the Pro Bowl as an alternative for Drake Maye, who was headed to the Super Bowl.
Sanders aims to impress new coach Todd Monken ahead of the 2026 season. Monken was appointed by the Browns after serving several seasons as the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator.

Shedeur Sanders was coached by his father, Deion Sanders, throughout his college football career. The pair excelled at Jackson State University before transitioning to the Big 12 with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Coach Prime attended the first day of the Cleveland Browns’ training camp. He observed as Shedeur completed 16 of 19 passes without a touchdown or interception, in contrast to Deshaun Watson’s consecutive interceptions.
Initially projected as a Day 1 draft pick, Sanders fell to the final day. The Browns picked another quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, on Day 2 before bringing Sanders onto the team. Shedeur Sanders is hopeful of retaining his position as the starting quarterback in his second year. Deshaun Watson is experiencing difficulties in training camp, with numerous interceptions and a lack of touchdowns.
