ENHANCING AMERICAN MINING: Today, President Donald J. Trump convened a landmark meeting with mining industry representatives, unveiling over $2 billion in essential mining and related projects aimed at rejuvenating the sector. More than $180 million will also be invested in mining schools to strengthen the American mining workforce.

  • The Department of War is committing over $85 million to Standard Bauxite to ensure a steady supply of refractory-grade bauxite, crucial for manufacturing high-temperature-resistant materials vital to both military components and the modern industrial economy.
  • A $150 million investment from the Department of War is directed towards Niron Magnetics in Minnesota, which is focused on creating 100% domestic, rare earth-free permanent magnets to support the defense sector and reduce reliance on foreign rare earth magnets.
  • Sila Nanotechnologies in California will receive $1.4 billion from the Department of War to enhance the production of silicon-carbon battery anodes and expand a lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing facility, thereby bolstering supply chains for satellite operations, unmanned aerial systems, and munitions.
  • The Department of War is also investing $400 million in Sunrise Energy Metals to develop a complete scandium value chain, including the first primary scandium mine, to secure the supply of high-heat aluminum alloys used in fighter jets and spacecraft.
  • The Export-Import Bank is allocating $8 million to 5E Advanced Materials in California to develop a boron deposit, a key element in permanent magnets, semiconductors, and glass.
  • Westwater Resources in Alabama will receive $25 million from the Export-Import Bank to advance the Coosa Graphite Deposit, supporting domestic battery manufacturing.
  • Another $25 million from the Export-Import Bank will go to Global Advanced Materials in Pennsylvania for tantalum and niobium, supporting electronics, magnets, and steel production.
  • The Development Finance Corporation is matching a $4.8 million investment in Harena Rare Earths to develop a rare earth mine in Madagascar, securing critical resources for American manufacturing such as magnet metals and rare earths.
  • The Department of Energy is investing $100 million in America’s 14 mining schools to revitalize the next-generation workforce, aiming to double the number of graduates with credentials in mining, minerals, and related supply chains.
  • Over $80 million in Department of War funding will support three schools’ major workforce development programs and technology innovation hubs, training the next generation of geologists, metallurgists, and mining engineers.

FOCUSING ON DOMESTIC CRITICAL MATERIALS AND SUPPLY CHAINS: President Trump is committed to ensuring that America’s critical materials and supply chains are strong and secure, reducing reliance on hostile foreign countries, safeguarding national security, and enhancing the economic resilience of key industries.

  • Critical materials drive the modern world, powering everything from cars and military weaponry to factory machinery, smartphones, and computers. Ensuring the United States has adequate and secure mining, processing, refining, manufacturing, and recycling is crucial to reducing foreign dependency.
  • These strategic investments address and rectify critical supply chain vulnerabilities, strengthen U.S. industrial resilience against geopolitical disruptions, and ensure that the defense industrial base and emerging technologies are supported by secure, domestically sourced components.
  • The revitalization of America’s industrial competitiveness and critical mineral supply chain hinges on rebuilding the workforce. Despite growing demand for critical minerals, the nation’s supply chain has contracted over the decades.
  • This unprecedented roundtable was the largest gathering of industry leaders and the President in over 120 years, with President Trump showing unparalleled support for American mining.

REVITALIZING AMERICAN INDUSTRY: Under President Trump’s leadership, America’s mining industry and national and economic security are being restored, ensuring dependable supplies of critical materials and supply chains.

  • President Trump has consistently championed the revitalization and reshoring of American industry, stressing the importance of restoring its strength and security after years of neglect.
  • Since January 2025, the Trump Administration has signed or approved 160 mineral deals, amounting to nearly $40 billion, creating American jobs and securing vital sectors of our critical materials industry.
  • Through Section 232, President Trump has bolstered domestic manufacturing essential to national and economic security by imposing tariffs and directing negotiations with trading partners on a range of goods, including steel, aluminum, copper, automobiles, timber, lumber, semiconductors, critical minerals, and pharmaceuticals.

    • These measures strengthen vital U.S. industries and the industrial base, ensuring that domestic producers and workers can compete fairly, protecting American jobs and enhancing national security.

  • In March 2025, President Trump issued an Executive Order to enhance American mineral production, streamline permitting processes, and boost national security.
  • In April 2025, an Executive Order was signed to reestablish American dominance in offshore critical minerals and resources.
  • In October 2025, President Trump instructed his Administration to expedite authorizations for the Ambler Road Project, facilitating road access to the Ambler Mining District.
  • In January 2026, President Trump signed an Executive Order to address threats to national security concerning imports of processed critical minerals and their derivative products (PCMDPs).
  • In May 2026, U.S. manufacturing experienced its fastest growth in four years, marking its fifth consecutive month of expansion and nearly tripling expectations. President Trump’s America First trade policies continue to strengthen the U.S. economy and national security.
  • In July 2026, an Executive Order was signed to secure America’s defense supply chains for advanced battlefield equipment, ensuring domestic supplies of the critical materials and components needed for their manufacture.
  • Additionally, in July 2026, a Presidential Determination under the Defense Production Act was signed to implement export restrictions on recoverable critical minerals and materials (CMMs).
