Prince Harry has been described as a “man on the edge” by one of his staunchest critics, who suggests that a recent court loss has impacted the Duke of Sussex more profoundly than he admits publicly.
According to RadarOnline.com, Harry, 41, has experienced a rocky period following his return to the UK with Meghan Markle, 45. This visit included a private meeting with King Charles III, 77, and Queen Camilla, 79.
Attention has increasingly turned to Harry’s unsuccessful High Court case against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail, which could result in significant legal fees for Harry and other notable claimants.
Royal commentator Neil Sean remarked, “What’s interesting is how it’s all brought on by himself.”
Sean, a frequent critic of the Sussexes, suggested that Harry’s recent behavior in public indicates the growing pressure from his legal and personal struggles.
He commented, “Now he’s making it very public to the rest of the world, just how difficult things have become for him over the last few weeks.
“Prince Harry is a man literally on the edge. This does not look a healthy mindsetted man to me.”
In July, the High Court ruled against Harry and other claimants, citing insufficient evidence.
The group, which included Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, may now face substantial legal costs owed to Associated Newspapers.
Sean noted that the defeat has been particularly challenging for Harry as he must manage the consequences that would previously have been handled by senior royal staff.
He stated, “I think this Daily Mail thing has knocked him far more than even he would wish to admit.”
Sean added, “Harry has never dealt with something like this independently. Somebody else would have picked up this mess, whether it be a private secretary or something like that. For Harry now to suddenly find that actually, not everything he touches is golden, is a huge problem.”
Harry’s financial situation has become another point of intense speculation, though the exact amount he may have to pay remains unclear.
Commentator Mark Dolan, another vocal critic of Harry and Markle, portrayed the financial implications in stark terms.
He remarked, “The bottom line is that reputationally it’s a disaster. Financially, it’s Armageddon. What is Harry on the hook for?”
Dolan speculated that Harry could face a bill reaching into eight figures, though this is a speculative figure rather than a confirmed cost.
He elaborated, “Let’s get down to brass tacks. 10, 15, 20 million dollars is what Harry is facing.”
Dolan suggested that even a $10 million bill could consume the earnings from Harry’s bestselling memoir, Spare.
He said, “So, if it’s conservatively $10 million, let’s be nice, let’s be charitable, then that’s all of the Spare (memoir) money gone in one fell swoop. Has he got the cash? What does Meghan think of this? And where does he go from here? This is an existential crisis for Harry.”
This court dispute has reignited scrutiny of Harry and Markle after their recent UK visit, including criticism of the duchess for posting a photo of their children at Althorp Estate, where Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, is buried.
Harry and Markle’s ties with the Royal Family have been strained since they stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
Their relationship further deteriorated following their Oprah Winfrey interview, Netflix documentary, and Harry’s memoir Spare, which revealed damaging insights into royal life.
Harry’s relationship with Prince William remains especially tense, despite recent attempts to mend relations with King Charles.
