With 13 years of experience teaching English to students in grades 8–12, Brooke realized that the most impactful lessons inspire students to delve deeply, express themselves confidently, and become so captivated that it no longer feels like traditional schoolwork. Throughout her career, she has interacted with diverse learners and navigated the complexities of crafting curriculum from scratch, all while maintaining dynamic and stimulating instruction year after year.
Leveraging her classroom insights, Brooke develops effective, classroom-tested resources that assist teachers and enrich the learning experience for students. What considerations are paramount when you design resources?
I constantly recall my own time as a student and question, “Would I have enjoyed this in their place?” My goal is to craft lessons and activities that are imaginative and enjoyable while also challenging students to think critically.
What can teachers anticipate when utilizing your resources?
I strive to conserve teachers’ time by offering classroom-tested resources. I think through how I would implement these activities in my classroom, foresee any potential questions, and allow teachers to adapt the resources to their needs. I also emphasize the importance of classroom connections and seek opportunities for student collaboration.
