Anthony Boyle, known for his role in “House of Guinness” and soon appearing as Sam Bankman-Fried in Netflix’s “The Altruists,” will headline the upcoming Sky Original drama “Charmer.”
Currently in production, the eight-part series is a collaboration between Working Title Television and Story Films. It features key performances from Siena Kelly (“Black Mirror,” “Adult Material”), Connor Swindells (“The Entertainment System Is Down,” “SAS Rogue Heroes”), and Sophie Wilde (“Digger,” “Talk to Me”).
“Charmer” centers on a group of ambitious Londoners in their 30s, whose lives are disrupted by Ryan, portrayed by Boyle. Ryan is a professional seducer hired to test the loyalty of wealthy clients’ partners. As the story unfolds, an assignment becomes personal as a wedding day approaches, challenging Ryan’s professional boundaries. The synopsis hints at a deeper emotional entanglement, as deception turns into desire, putting Ryan at risk of breaking his fundamental rule: never fall in love.
Joining the cast are Sam Delich, Vivian Oparah, Neil Maskell, Karan Gill, Sophie Simnett, and Polly Walker.
“Charmer” is the brainchild of Thomas Aspell, both created and written by him, with direction by Elliot Hegarty, known for his work on “Rivals,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Bad Education.” Additional episodes are penned by Melissa Bubnic, Constance Cheng, and Anna Ssemuyaba, with Dionne Edwards directing the second block.

The production is a joint effort between Working Title Television, part of Universal Global Television under Universal Studio Group, and Story Films, which is a division of Banijay Entertainment. Working Title Television has previously produced titles like “Too Much” and “Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole,” whereas Story Films is known for “The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe” and “Deceit.” Executive producers for “Charmer” include Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Surian Fletcher-Jones and Simon Hatton for Working Title Television, alongside David Nath and Peter Beard for Story Films, and Thomas Aspell and Elliot Hegarty. Josh Wilkins serves as co-executive producer, with Manpreet Dosanjh as executive producer for Sky and Charlotte Surtees as the series producer.
“Charmer” will be available to audiences on Sky and streaming service Now in the UK and Italy, with international distribution managed by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
