Once-prominent Hollywood figure Harvey Weinstein has been rushed back to a hospital in New York City for urgent medical attention after receiving concerning blood test results, according to his lawyer.
Attorney Imran Ansari revealed that Weinstein, who has been facing inadequate medical care and harsh conditions at Rikers Island, was transferred to Bellevue Hospital for immediate treatment due to the alarming test results requiring urgent medical intervention. Ansari stated in a statement obtained by ABC News that Weinstein is expected to remain at the hospital until his condition stabilizes.
Harvey Weinstein, currently held at Rikers Island awaiting a new trial on sexual assault charges, has faced multiple hospitalizations in recent months due to various serious health issues, including emergency heart surgery and a recent cancer diagnosis.
His legal team has criticized the quality of medical care Weinstein has received while in custody and has even threatened legal action against New York City for alleged medical negligence. Ansari, his attorney, has declared that the lack of proper medical treatment constitutes both medical malpractice and a violation of Weinstein’s constitutional rights.
