Fresh snow is expected to blanket Colorado’s mountains on Friday, as per the National Weather Service forecast.

The snowstorm will make its way into Colorado late Thursday night and is projected to linger until Friday evening, according to NWS forecasters. The peak period for snowfall is anticipated between 2 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday.

Forecasts suggest that mountain passes above 10,000 feet could receive anywhere from a dusting to 5 inches of snow.

The heaviest snowfall is predicted for Buffalo Pass and Rabbit Ears Pass, near Steamboat Springs, with up to 5 inches of accumulation expected on Friday, based on NWS snow forecasts.

Colorado ski resorts like Loveland and Keystone are also expected to receive between 1 and 3 inches of snow on Friday.

Saturday is expected to bring warmer and drier conditions, but snow might make a comeback in the mountains on Sunday and extend into Monday, according to the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Similar light snow accumulations are anticipated in Sunday’s storm, with NWS forecasters indicating low chances of snow exceeding 6 inches. It is unlikely that the snow from either storm will reach the lower elevation foothills and Front Range.
