Exploring a Decade of International Collaboration: The Brooks International Fellowship Symposium at Tate

On January 22, Tate will host a free online and in-person symposium, Building an International Knowledge Network: Ten Years of the Brooks International Fellowship.

Marking a significant milestone in its partnership with the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Foundation and Delfina Foundation, Tate is thrilled to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Brooks International Fellowship with a major international symposium.

Since its inception in 2014, the Brooks International Fellowship has played a pivotal role in advancing research at Tate. Fellows from around the world have contributed to a wide range of research activities at Tate, spanning disciplines such as curatorial work, learning initiatives, community engagement, collection management, research and interpretation, digital innovation, and visitor communications.

This symposium will bring together former fellows and their Tate and Delfina Foundation hosts, reflecting on how the fellowship has enriched Tate’s practices with diverse international perspectives and facilitated the exchange of innovative ideas from across the globe.

Additionally, the symposium will delve into the broader impact of the “Knowledge Network” established through the Brooks International Fellowship. Sessions will explore themes that have resonated with the fellows, such as Socially Engaged Practices, Community Building, Friendship, Internationalism, and Transnationalism. Participants will examine how these themes manifest across different disciplines, regions, and cultural contexts.

Curated by Jess Sully, the Brooks International Fellowship Programme Manager at Tate Research, the symposium will take place both online and in person at Tate Modern in London, England, on January 22.
