Man Accused of Stalking Caitlin Clark Appears in Court

Michael Lewis, the man accused of stalking Caitlin Clark, made a dramatic appearance in court on Tuesday. The 55-year-old Texas native, wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs, declared himself “guilty as charged” even before the proceedings began.

The unsettling scene took place in an Indiana courtroom just two days after Lewis was arrested in Indianapolis. He was accused of sending harassing and disturbing messages to Clark throughout December and January.

Upon Lewis’s declaration of guilt, the judge promptly informed him that his statement was unnecessary. The judge reminded Lewis of his right to remain silent and advised him to exercise that right.

Despite the judge’s warning, Lewis continued with his erratic behavior, asking the judge to “throw me the booky” and later complaining about his medication. He was eventually assigned a public defender, and his plea was officially entered as “not guilty.”

As Lewis left the courtroom, the judge reiterated the importance of remaining silent in jail and only communicating with his attorney. Lewis, facing a felony charge of stalking that could result in up to six years in prison, was ordered to stay away from Clark and had his bail set at $50,000.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March, where he will have to face the charges brought against him.

This incident highlights the seriousness of stalking and the legal consequences that come with such actions. It serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting boundaries and the law when it comes to personal interactions.
