Singer Chris Brown is taking legal action against Warner Bros. for a whopping $500 million in response to the sexual assault allegations made against him in the docuseries âChris Brown: A History of Violenceâ by Investigation Discovery.
In the lawsuit obtained by Variety, Brown accuses Warner Bros. and Ample, the producers behind the docuseries, of libel and intentional infliction of emotional distress through defamatory claims made against him. He strongly refutes the evidence provided to support these claims, labeling them as completely false.
The lawsuit states, âTo put it simply, this case is about the media prioritizing profits over the truth. Ample LLC and Warner Brothers were informed since October 2024 that they were disseminating false information for the sake of likes, clicks, downloads, and financial gain, all to the detriment of Chris Brown. Despite this, on October 27, 2024, they aired âChris Brown: A History of Violence,â fully aware that it was riddled with lies and deception, violating fundamental journalistic principles.â
Warner Bros. has not yet responded to Varietyâs request for comment on the matter.
Further allegations in the lawsuit highlight that the claims made by âJane Doe,â which were used as evidence against Brown in the docuseries, have been repeatedly discredited. It is claimed that she is actually a perpetrator of intimate partner violence and an aggressor herself.
The lawsuit does acknowledge that Brown has made mistakes in the past, which he openly addressed in his 2017 documentary, âChris Brown: Welcome To My Life.â However, it emphasizes that he has learned from these experiences and has shown growth and evolution since then.
