Samantha Ettus not only witnessed her Palisades home being consumed by the California wildfires but was also targeted by a pro-Palestine mob that celebrated her loss.
A Manhattan native and prominent Israel supporter, Ettus made the move to Palisades 13 years ago in search of the most idyllic town in America.
After sharing the heartbreaking story of losing her home and possessions in the fire on social media, she faced a barrage of hateful comments.
One comment read, “Can’t tell you how happy I am that you have lost your home!!!” accompanied by hearts and laughing emojis.
Another comment said, “Glad you lost your home. Next time hope you’re in it.”
Despite facing such adversity, Ettus remained resilient and launched the 2024 New Voices campaign against antisemitism, garnering support from celebrities like Cindy Crawford and David Arquette.
Her activism often made her a target, as seen in a recent confrontation with Mohamed Hadid, where she was unjustly labeled as an “ignorant bitch” and “terrorist.”
Reflecting on the hate she received after the wildfires, Ettus expressed her disbelief at the level of vitriol directed towards her.
Despite the hateful messages, Ettus remains steadfast in her mission to speak out against injustice.
She emphasized the importance of not remaining silent, especially in times of adversity, and encouraged others to use their voices to stand up against hate.
“We’re all in this together,” Ettus concluded, highlighting the need for unity and resilience in the face of discrimination.
