A mysterious skywriting message that read “Celeste is a liar” was spotted over the Coachella area shortly after the arrest of singer D4vd in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The source of this aerial message remains unknown, and authorities have yet to confirm any links between it and the ongoing murder investigation.

The timing of the skywriting quickly sparked online speculation.

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was arrested on Thursday by LAPD officers at a Hollywood Hills residence where he had been staying. Police reported that he was taken into custody by the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division and is being held without bail.

Video footage showed Burke being led away from the home in handcuffs.

He had not been seen in public for several months before his arrest.

The Los Angeles Police Department released an official statement confirming the arrest, saying, “Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division have arrested David Burke, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, for the murder of Celeste Rivas. Burke is being held without bail. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration.”

Authorities also noted that a grand jury investigation into the case began in February 2026, with Burke identified as a target during the proceedings.

The “Celeste is a liar” skywriting seen near Coachella has not been linked to any person or organization, and investigators have not publicly addressed its connection to the case. For now, it remains an unexplained and unverified element amidst the rapidly developing criminal investigation.
