Tragedy struck a family in Wyoming as three young girls lost their lives and another is fighting for survival after their mother shot them in the head before turning the gun on herself. The incident took place in Big Horn County, where the mother, identified as 32-year-old Tranyelle Harshman, called 911 to report the shooting of her four daughters in their home.
Harshman provided the dispatcher with information on the girls’ whereabouts before abruptly ending the call. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the four girls with gunshot wounds to their heads, along with their mother who had also sustained self-inflicted injuries.
Tragically, three of the girls, aged 9, 2, and 2, lost their lives in the incident, while the 7-year-old sister survived with serious injuries. Harshman, despite being found alive, later succumbed to her wounds.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy are ongoing. Harshman’s husband, Cliff Harshman, revealed that his wife had been struggling with severe mental health issues, including PTSD and postpartum depression, and was undergoing treatment for these conditions.
Cliff Harshman, who is the biological father of the two youngest victims and had been involved in raising the older two, expressed his devastation and emphasized the impact of mental health issues on behavior. He emphasized that his wife was not a monster but was dealing with a chemical imbalance that was exacerbated by medication.
Currently, one of the girls is fighting for her life in a hospital in Salt Lake City, and friends have launched a fundraiser to support the family with medical expenses. The fundraiser aims to help Cliff Harshman, a devoted husband and father, cope with the unimaginable loss and support the surviving daughter’s recovery.
