A brazen thief targeted a worker in the Diamond District, making off with a valuable Rolex watch worth $10,000 from a luxury watch store. The incident occurred outside Rare Time NY on 5th Avenue near West 48th Street on Tuesday around 5 p.m.

The unidentified suspect forcefully pushed the 22-year-old employee to the ground and snatched a grey bag containing two Rolex watches. The victim bravely chased the thief to West 49th Street and managed to retrieve the bag, but one Rolex was already missing.

During the scuffle, the perpetrator pleaded with the worker, asking for money and claiming that they never helped him out. Surveillance footage released by the police shows the suspect inside the store before the robbery, wearing a black-and-green North Face jacket.

Thankfully, the victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the theft. The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the thief. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers. Tips can also be submitted online at the Crime Stoppers website or via @NYPDTips on X.

This brazen theft serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings, especially in high-traffic areas like the Diamond District. The police are actively investigating the incident and are hopeful that with the public’s help, the thief will be brought to justice.
