Clive Revill, the acclaimed actor best known for his iconic voice portrayal of the villainous Emperor Palpatine in the “Star Wars” franchise, has sadly passed away at the age of 94 after a reported battle with dementia.
According to reports, Revill breathed his last at an assisted-living facility in Sherman Oaks, California on March 11. His daughter, Kate, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that the veteran actor had been struggling with dementia in his final days.
In “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back,” Revill lent his voice to the hooded Palpatine, delivering a chilling performance as he communicated with Darth Vader about their shared enemy, Luke Skywalker. The scene, a pivotal moment in the film, showcased Revill’s talent for bringing complex characters to life.
Aside from his memorable role in the “Star Wars” universe, Revill also left his mark on the silver screen with appearances in various films such as “Bunny Lake Is Missing” (1965), “Kaleidoscope” (1966), “Modesty Blaise” (1966), “The Legend of Hell House” (1973), and “Matilda” (1978).
In addition to his film work, Revill also found success on Broadway, earning two Tony Award nominations for his performances in the musicals “Irma la Douce” and “Oliver!”
