Exploring the intriguing world of “Dumpster Archeology,” Lew Blink, a self-proclaimed dumpster archaeologist, delves into trash bins and waste receptacles to uncover objects that tell stories about people’s lives. Blink’s unique approach involves curating collections dedicated to specific individuals, such as a couple who embarked on a luxurious trip to Paris, accompanied by books on Zen, UFOs, and magic, alongside saxophones, disco balls, and paintings. His apartment doubles as a research lab where he conducts in-depth internet sleuthing to piece together narratives.

A captivating short documentary by Stolen Sun provides a glimpse into Blink’s work and philosophy. Titled “Dumpster Archeology,” the film showcases Blink’s unwavering curiosity and dedication to storytelling, presented in a campy style reminiscent of horror parodies.

As Blink uncovers legal documents, diaries, and other intimate artifacts, the film raises questions about privacy and consumerism. Blink, however, emphasizes that his intention is not to expose individuals or reveal their deepest secrets. Instead, he aims to celebrate the remarkable nature of the people he encounters through his discoveries.
